Anthony Flinn Set To Cook Up A Storm With Asda at Balmoral Show

Join ASDA at this year’s Balmoral Show, taking place from 22 – 25 September and enjoy a range of cookery demonstrations from renowned chef Anthony Flinn. 

With years of experience, Anthony has worked in some of the world’s best restaurants throughout the UK and Europe including the esteemed 3 Michelin Star, El Bulli in Barcelona. Having attained 3 AA Rosettes as well as numerous regional & national accolades, Anthony has a first class reputation for creativity, quality and attention to detail.

ASDA will be situated on Alexander Avenue in the centre of the Balmoral Showgrounds and during the four days of the Show, Anthony is set to cook up a storm using the best of British beef that is readily available from local ASDA stores.

Why not try his mouth watering Dirty Burger recipe for yourself and get a taste of what the Show has to offer.

Dirty Burger Recipe (Serves 2)

  • 1 pack of ASDA Extra Special 4 Seasoned Beef Burgers
  • 2 brioche buns
  • 1 bottle of BBQ sauce
  • 2 kraft cheese slices
  • Sliced gherkins

Beef Stock Mayonnaise

  • ½ Oxo Cube
  • 100gr Good Mayonnaise

Crumb the oxo cube into a bowl and add 1tsp of warm water and mix until fully dissolved and smooth. Add the mayonnaise and mix until the stock and mayonnaise are fully incorporated.

Crispy Onions

  • 1 white onion, thinly sliced
  • 2tbsp plain flour
  • Toss the sliced onions in the flour and deep fry until crispy. Season with salt.

Cheese Sauce

  • 8 kraft cheese slices.
  • 150ml double cream.
  • Warm the cream in a pan. Add the cheese slices and whisk until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.

Simple Steps

  1. Cook the burgers as per the cooking instructions on pack.
  2. Toast the burger buns.
  3. Spoon the beef stock mayonnaise on to the top and bottom halves of the burger buns.
  4. Place a burger on to the bottom half of the bun and top with cheese.
  5. Stack the second burger on top and drizzle the BBQ sauce.
  6. Add the crispy onions and finally the bun lid.
  7. Skewer through burger to stop it from tipping over.
  8. Pour the warm cheese sauce over the whole burger and serve.

Lidl Northern Ireland Partners with top mixologist to conjure up a Wickedly Tasty Cocktail this Halloween

Lidl Northern Ireland has partnered with world-class bar tender Cal Byrne to create a wickedly tasty Halloween cocktail using Lidl’s spirit range, available in all 41 Lidl Northern Ireland stores. Inspired by Samhain, the ancient Celtic pagan festival of the dead celebrated on Halloween night, the leading Irish mixologist has created Púca Punch (Púca an Irish Ghost / Spirit in Irish folklore) which includes quintessential Autumnal ingredients.

This spine-tingling cocktail packs a punch with a combination of Lidl’s fruit juice, Korol Premium Vodka and Bitterol Aperitivo, topped with a spine-tingling dash of Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco to create a bright, effervescent drink.

Whether you’re throwing a devilishly delightful dinner party, a scream-worthy house party, or maybe just having some friends over for spine-chilling fun this recipe will definitely impress your guests.

Here is what you will need to recreate this wickedly tasty concoction.

Púca Punch

Serves One

  • 30ml Korol Premium Vodka
  • 20ml Bitterol Aperitivo
  • 40ml Apple, Pear & Raspberry Cold Pressed Juice
  • 5ml Maple Syrup
  • Soda Water 
  • Dash of Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco 


  1. Place ice in a glass
  2. Add a small amount of both soda water and Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco to the glass
  3. Slowly add the Vodka, Aperitivo, maple and cold pressed juice to the glass
  4. Stir lightly to combine taking care to preserve the bubbles
  5. Garnish with a slice of lemon

Fourth Royal Ulster Premier Beef & Lamb Championships Launched

The Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) officially launched the fourth Royal Ulster Premier Beef & Lamb Championships with Bank of Ireland returning as the principal sponsor.

This year, the coveted Championship will take place on Tuesday 23rd November 2021 at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, Balmoral Park. Entries are now open online at and will close on Friday 29th October at 5pm.

As always, the prestigious show and sale includes a wide selection of beef and lamb championship showing classes that will culminate with the ever-popular auction in the evening. Following on from the success of last year, the event will also be streamed online as well as being open to the public.

Dr Alan Crowe, RUAS Chief Executive commented, ‘‘We are thrilled to have Bank of Ireland back on board for the fourth Royal Ulster Premier Beef & Lamb Championships.

“Last year, we adapted this event to be streamed online reaching audiences across the globe, bringing this fantastic show and sale worldwide. This year, we are delighted to welcome visitors back to the Eikon Exhibition Centre in November for what is set to be another fantastic Show and Sale.”

The Royal Ulster Premier Beef & Lamb Championships will take place on Tuesday 23rd November 2021 at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, Balmoral Park, Lisburn with showing commencing at 11:30am and auction kicking off at 6:00pm.

Conditions of entry (proof of COVID-19 status) can be found online. Admission is £5 for adults and under 12’s are free when accompanied by an adult. Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (UFCU) members’ admission is £2.50 and a valid membership card must be presented. Entry for RUAS members is free of charge. All tickets can be purchased on arrival.
