Excitement is growing for the thousands of fans set for the 10th Belfast City Blues Festival this weekend starting tonight (Friday 29 June). The Festival will see shows across 22 venues featuring the likes of blues veterans, Dr Feelgood, new music sensation Aaron Keylock and local queen of blues Kaz Hawkins all take to the stage.
Also back this year is the annual Tribute to Rory Gallagher afternoon at the Black Box with The Pat McManus Band, Blackwood & The Willie Byrne Band as well as A Tribute To Phil Lynott & Thin Lizzy featuring local band Tinn Lizzy.
And, there is the return of the ‘Blues On The Boat’ – cruising on the Lagan with food, refreshments and great music.
Ten Years In The Making
Festival Director, Seamus O’Neill, said that the varied line-up and the talent on show has everyone eager for the musical bonanza.
“Ten years on the city is hosting one of the biggest ever showcases of local, national and international talent,” he said. “We’re delighted that Dr Feelgood are appearing, and you must check out Aaron Keylock – this is a talent that will be a superstar.”
Seamus also said there is massive anticipation for US stars Otis and The Elevators.
“If you haven’t seen this band before you need to make sure you have snagged a ticket and get down the front!”

Specialist tour operator American Holidays returns as the main festival sponsor. Joining them is Brand USA, the destination marketing agency for the United States as well as United Airlines and Belfast City Council. for the star-studded blues event of the year.
