Mid Ulster District Council is supporting this year’s Independents’ Day campaign which takes place on Wednesday 4 July by reminding residents to support their local independent retailers and shop local.
There is an impressive retail offering in Mid Ulster with a depth of shopping opportunities available in the district’s 5 town centres- Coalisland, Cookstown, Dungannon, Maghera and Magherafelt.
Independents’ Day reminds us all to consider our current shopping habits and encourages us to shop local and support our local retailers.
The Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Sean McPeake, stressed the importance of supporting local retailers, “The Mid Ulster district is renowned for its niche selection of independent retailers right across our five town centres. Independents’ Day acts a timely reminder for us all to shop local and support our local traders. For every pound spent with local independent retailers, 70p remains in our local economy.
“I hope residents of Mid Ulster fully embrace Independents’ Day and come out in force to support their local retailers on this day and throughout the year!”
The Independents’ Day campaign is being run in conjunction with Retail NI.
